Why The World Needs You by John DiStefano

A few months ago I had a chat with a young entrepreneur who struggled to get his business off the ground.

He’s been working on his start-up for the last 2 years and got nowhere. Not a single client, hardly any response on Social Media, nobody seems to be interested in what he has to say. He was frustrated and out of money. He clearly felt bad and tried to excuse all the things that went wrong.

This happens in all parts of life, not only in business. You try to find the right partner and he or she is nowhere to be found. Or when you become a parent, you try to be a great mom or dad but your kids just do what they want and completely disrespect you.

But what does this all mean and what can you do if you are in that hole?

First of all, don’t even think that you’re the only one in that situation. I am sure if you look hard enough you will find thousands of people. There are over 7 Billion people in this world, you can do the math.

Second, there seems to be a pattern how and why these things happen and it all comes back to the way you think and interact with others. It literally is a question of your point of view, your perspective to life and other people. It is not about being positive or negative, but about your openness to life and the people around you.

The base question is: “For who are you doing all this?”

If the answer is “For yourself.”, because you want to earn money or don’t want to be alone, your focus is on you and you depend completely on others to be happy and get what you want.

If your answer is “For the people you love, your friends, family and community.”, because you want to contribute and provide value to others, your focus is on others and it’s completely on you to be successful and happy. In this case, you don’t need to wait for anything. There is no waiting time when helping others. The action is on you.

It really is a question of perspective, in business and life.

If you run your business to serve your clients and customers with your expertise or products, it’s on you to act.

If you run your business to serve yourself, to make money as quick as possible you will need your potential customers or clients to act.

It’s always hard to make others do something because you want them to.

The thing is, being in such a hole, you don’t want to see this and you have an answer for everything and nothing is really your fault. To get out of this, I would recommend to seek others with the same problem and help them to overcome it and get out of the hole. It is often easier with others and your expertise being there yourself can help many to get out and deal with it.

That is exactly what I told the entrepreneur I mentioned at the beginning. Yesterday he called me and told me that he met another entrepreneur in the same situation and together they figured out what went wrong. Since then they joined forces, changed their perspective and started to make some real progress. Helping each other.

To answer the question of the title of this article, Why The World Needs You:

Because there is always someone out there who needs your help. Whoever you are and whatever you do or in whatever situation you’re in, you’re the one who can help someone out there.

Because you can make a difference in other people’s lives and your own, that’s why the world needs you.

Who are you going to help next?

Tell us your story and why the world needs you.

🙂
