How Do You Move On After a Breakup? By Rachel Russo

Question: My boyfriend broke up with me last week and I’m pretty sure it’s for good because he already has another girlfriend. We were together 2 years and he just said he didn’t want to be with me anymore. It hurts so bad. Is there an easy way to get over someone? I can’t stop thinking that there’s something wrong with me.

Answer: So sorry to hear that your relationship ended and that you are hurting. Breakups are tough for all of us. It can feel even worse when your ex has quickly seemed to move on. Keyword: “Seemed”. Just because he has someone else to distract him does not mean he’s “over” you or has forgotten all about you.

Keep in mind: The fact that he has a new girlfriend actually has nothing to do with you. It just means he’s someone who jumps quickly from one relationship to the next. The best thing to do now is to focus on you–on healing yourself. Take care of yourself. Work out, eat right, do things you love, see your friends and family regularly. Seek coaching or therapy if you are struggling.
